Yesterday, our P3/4 class enjoyed a very special visit to the historic Guildhall after being invited by the Mayor, Ruairí McHugh. The invitation followed the children’s fantastic success in a competition organised by Concern Bookshop.
The children were thrilled to meet the Mayor in his chambers, where they enjoyed juice, biscuits and treats while asking lots of thoughtful and interesting questions. It was a wonderful opportunity for the pupils to learn more about the role of the Mayor and local government.
Afterwards, the class was treated to a VIP tour of the Guildhall by the lovely Nicola, who shared fascinating stories and history about our city. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring such an important landmark and learning more about the city's rich heritage.
To top off an already amazing day, the pupils returned to school with fantastic goody bags and lots of happy memories to share.
