Instructional Writing and Maths Week Adventures!

It’s been a busy and exciting time in our Primary 5, 6, and 7 classes as we’ve been diving into Instructional Writing and celebrating our annual Maths Week!

✏️ Instructional Writing

Our pupils have been learning all about how to write clear, step-by-step instructions. We explored what makes a good set of instructions — from using imperative verbs (“Mix,” “Pour,” “Cut”) to organising information in the correct order.
Each class has had fun writing instructions for a variety of activities, including making sandwiches, creating pizza, and even designing “How to Carve a Pumpkin” guides!
The focus has been on making writing clear, detailed, and easy to follow — skills that will help across all areas of learning.

➕ Maths Week Magic

Maths Week was amazing! We discovered that maths isn’t just about numbers — it’s everywhere around us. We went on maths trails, took part in whole class maths games. We worked in teams, used our brains, and showed that maths can be exciting, creative, and fun. 

💡 Our Highlights

We’ve learned so much about explaining things clearly, solving problems, and helping each other. Everyone worked hard, shared ideas, and had lots of laughs along the way.

It’s been a brilliant time in Primary 5, 6 and 7 — full of learning, fun, and fantastic teamwork!
