Coronation Celebration

5th May 2023

Friday 5th May 2023, the day we celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

Our coronation celebration started off with an assembly. We paraded our costumes to all of the visitors who attended and were joined by members of the New Gate Arts Centre, who played music as we marched.

We looked back on the then Prince Charles’ visit to the opening of our school. Mrs Arthur told us all about the event, it sounded so exciting that he landed right next to the playground in a helicopter. Mrs Arthur went on to tell us all about King Charles, his life, family and everything his job involves.

After that, we paraded our costumes on stage. We stopped for a quick photograph. Our theme was “Royalty” and the colour Royal Blue. We had been selling tickets for our raffle and Name the Dog competition. Ella and Billy won prizes in the raffle and Paisley won the Name the Dog competition.

Mrs Arthur addressed the assembly next, she talked about how thankful we were for all our guests as well as the members of the New Gate Arts Centre for providing the music. Derek Moore, one of the members of our Board of Governors, made a very sad announcement. He informed us all that Mrs Arthur has decided that this will be her last year at Fountain Primary School as she will be retiring in August. Mrs Arthur thanked everyone for this support throughout her time in school and her mummy shed a tear.

Our assembly ended with the members of the New Gate Arts Centre playing us out as we went back to our classes.

At 12pm we went to the assembly hall again for our special lunch. We all sat together and had a snack box. It was a lovely lunch and great to get the whole school together.
