SCHOOL CLOSURE (06/01/25)
With the safety and well-being of our whole school community as our top priority, we have made the decision to close the school tomorrow (Tuesday, 6th January). The ongoing adverse weather conditions, freezing temperatures and limited gritting have combined to make it unsafe to travel. While the main roads are currently clear, sideroads are still dangerous and expected to freeze again overnight.
While some staff were able to attend school today as part of a staff training day. They were able to come to work later than usual, and not all staff were able to make the journey. We would not be able to run the school safely with the same level of staff who were able to attend today. As well as this, there are no school meals available as the school who transports to us has made the decision to close as well.
Sorry for the late message, however, this is another situation where schools have been left to make decisions themselves rather than the Education Authority making the call. Due to this being the case, we have many different factors to consider before a final decision is made.
I apologise for any inconvenience this causes and we fully expect school to reopen on Wednesday 7th.
