Unity in the Community

14th May 2025

With lots of Shared Education taking place in school this week, we thought there was no better time to partner with Long Tower PS to show how strong our connection is.

Mrs Logue and Mr Torney met to discuss the importance of the work our schools do together. We wanted to show our communities, our city and our whole country that we can celebrate our similarities and differences in a positive way.

We invited along some Church representatives as well as some local community groups to our walk around the walls, and when the news spread about what we were doing, Keiron Tourish (BBC) contacted us about covering the story, so we might even make the evening news sometime this week!

It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect weather for getting together. At the end of the walk, we visited New Gate Arts & Culture Centre, which provided juice and a snack for the children. Thank you to everyone at New Gate, especially Mark, who helped so much in organising today.

Our partnership hopes that it can be an example to everyone about how to work together and create relationships that are beneficial to all involved. Celebrating each other, making friendships and forming bonds that last long after our children have left school.

Thank you to everyone who took part today. The children loved having so many visitors on our walk. The support our schools have in the community is amazing!
