We are celebrating VE Day on Thursday, May 8th. This is a project we are doing in collaboration with New Gate and the Cathedral Youth Club to try and bring the different organisations in the Fountain together. Below is an outline of the day we have planned and details of when you can join us.
9.30am-10.00am
In school - Presentation on the background to World War 2. An emphasis on the impact on school children.
10.00am-10.45am
In school - Children make name tags. Start of the 'evacuation' story/ journey.
11.15am-12.00pm
We are "evacuating" to the safety of St Columb’s Cathedral. There will be a small act of remembrance, a piper playing and laying of flowers. Everyone is welcome!
1.10pm-2.00pm (P3/4 & P5/6/7)
Cathedral Youth Club - Presentation on how the war finished, examining how local people celebrated. Everyone is welcome!
2.00pm-3.00pm
Bus turning circle - street party with music, dance and food! Everyone is welcome!
If you collect your child at or before 2pm (Nursery and P1/2), we would still love to see you come along for our party. Children who attend 2-3pm Club will be taken to the party as part of the club.
Parents who are collecting their children from school, please be aware that the bus turning circle with not be available for parking in the afternoon.
